Hello everyone!
I hope that you have all had a very good Yule, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Posadas Navidenas, and Winter Solstice, or have simply enjoyed some time to consume vast quantities of food and chocolate, however your desires take you this winter!
I have had a most excellent year, celebrating Yule with family and then Christmas with another group of family, and as such, it’s been a whirl of fun and games for me, but I’m back, and I’ll be getting the Duckslayer Post rolling out again today!
To the Orb!
Where we’ve been
This week-and-a-bit has seen me fill out over Christmas with some worldbuilding content from this note:
Which I am pleased to say is still generating some amazing questions from everyone, each of which will be getting answered in full as time goes on! So thankyou all for that! This week’s questions were all about Unique Magic in Arenstar, Conflicts in Arenstar, and (oddly specifically) Chilled Dessert based schisms and war aversion. All of these had me thinking of new lore and building the world up, so thankyou to
, , and for your questions!Regarding my ever-growing following, I was ecstatic to discover that the Duckslayer Post has grown to a following of 28 subscribers since my last Scrying
Where We’re Going
This week I am late with my Scrying (it should have been Saturday Scrying!) and so will be re-starting the newsletter with Monster Monday, Worldbuilding Wednesday, and Folklore Friday! For the first, I have to come good on a threat promise I made to
And therefore I am obliged by the ancient rites of “I said I Would”1 to make this week’s Monster Monday all about one of my favourite horror homebrews, so stay tuned for that tomorrow!
The astute of you will have noticed that the note above has 10 comments, and I can confirm that I have 7 more amazing questions to answer! I will likely get them all written up in the near future. This leaves me with 2 options - do I drop them in between my regular newsletters, like the delicious layers of custard-fondant in a custard cream2, or do I hoard them and filter them out slowly on Wednesdays? I think that the honest answer is that it depends on how many more questions I get! If you all ask more questions, I will not need to eek-out the content! So ask away, and be showered in lore!
Folklore Friday may also answer one of the questions from the above 7:
as this is one of the only questions I already have answers for!
Thank you all for reading! Unfortunately, I have to go and write up tomorrow’s article so you will have to wait for the next instalment of the Cheese Chasers, which will be in next week’s Sunday Scrying! Instead, I offer 20 of you a discount code for one of my publications - the Circle of the Spirit Wood Druid! Harness the power of the forest to crush and strangle your foes! Find it on DrivethruRPG here:
Any comments or ideas for me for this Newsletter then please voice them, I am always looking for good ideas to build on, and love to hear from you all!
And if you like my writings and want to have all of them forever, then please subscribe!
And if you want to support my goals of hiring artists for my homebrew content (to fight back against AI art) then please consider throwing me some pennies on Ko-Fi!
Until next time, happy adventuring Duckslayers!
And if I say I will do a thing, I will do it - I do not need reminding every 6 months!
Some people prefer Bourbons, and whilst I see the appeal, there is definitely superiority in the custard. Oreos never appealed to me, and they aren’t good biscuits, and that is a hill I will die on.

Oreos have shrunk in size. So have Chips Ahoy, cookies of my youth. I much prefer my Scottish shortbread cookies with tea. (Yes I’m an American with some refinement. 😂😂)
