Hello and good morning/afternoon/evening/night/solar eclipse/subterranean warm spell1 to you!
After reading a post which recommended a table of contents, I realised that I could do that - so here I am, doing it! Publishing every other day, my page does have capacity to get crowded quite quickly!
Firstly, if you’re new here, welcome to the Duckslayer Post - I, the mysterious author, am here to guide you through the wild and dangerous lands that are my content!2 Occasionally, it may take me a little time to update this post - To work around my real-life work schedule, I have to frontload my publications for later release, so I try to get this updated at the weekends!
Now then, let’s get into it!
Monster Mondays
On Mondays3 I write about monsters for D&D 5e. This means some new monsters, some reviews of existing monsters, and some combinations of existing monsters into horrific statblocks to throw at your players!
Training Tuesday
Formerly Trinket Tuesday, this section is all about techniques and advice for running the game. It features homebrew mechanics for problematic scenarios, physics-based solutions to problems nobody asked for4, and advice on world-building and plot-weaving!
Worldbuilding Wednesday
On Wednesdays, we do Worldbuilding. This means information about Arenstar, my D&D fantasy world. Much of this comes from answering questions from my subscribers, in response to this note:
Third-Party Thursdays
Among my other talents5, I am a published author of D&D 5e supplements - that means subclasses, feats, adventures, and useful player aides! I often will include discounts for my lovely readers in these articles! I also review other people’s third-party content6, if they reach out to me, which I then write about here!
Folklore Fridays
On Fridays, I post about the folklore of my fictional world, Arenstar. This section is dedicated to how my world is seen from the standpoint of someone living in it, not someone looking in from outside. It’s all about stories and legends and folklore - some of which may even be true!
The Tale of Olbanor the Traveller:
Weekend Scrying
At the weekend, I decided to give myself a little breather, and do a quick write-up of where we’d been and where we’re going - basically “Previously, on the Duckslayer Post!” and “Coming up on the Duckslayer Post!”. I then thoroughly scuppered my efforts to make this a break by including the chronicle of my ongoing campaign at the bottom - the Cheese Chasers - which is probably what you’d want to look back through anyway!
Let’s Build a Wargame
Alongside my day-job as an engineer, my side-job as a CAD lecturer, my side-hustle7 as a D&D publisher, and my day-to-day life, I am also trying to make a tabletop skirmish game called Red Sky! I have started chronicling it here, and this is a non-standardised release schedule - I could post at any time8!
Crimson Peak (not yet active)
In the world of Arenstar, there is a place to the North-East where the mists clog the weave of magic, where the seas broil eternally in tumultuous waves, and where no sailor has ever ventured and returned. Dug into one of the islands in this fog is Crimson Peak, a facility which once conducted magical research and weaponisation. Some time ago, it closed down, the people who worked there were silenced, and it was swept under the rug by the sinister corporation which had run it.
I am planning to build a megadungeon out of this place, which will reveal it’s sinister history as it is played through. When the time comes, the table of contents will be here!
The VIP Lounge (woefully empty)
I have decided that when I make extra articles which are outside of my regularly scheduled program, they will be reserved for those people who have actually parted with their hard-earnt cash to support me - my Paid Subscribers9! This will include my WIP projects, my thought processes, monsters based off my sketches, and anything else I think that you’ll like!
Random Outbursts
I am a creative person, and like many creative people, I find myself suddenly enthralled by the idea of writing something which is entirely outisde the remit of my plan. For these posts, I have the Random Outbursts section. It’s unplanned, uncontrolled, and unconventional. There is no theme, there is no plan10.
If you enjoy reading my articles, and want to see more, then hit subscribe!
If you’ve got ideas for monsters or articles, then let me know in the comments!
And if you’ve something for me to review for Third-Party Thursdays, then definitely message me!
And if you like what you’re reading and want to help me afford professional artists to illustrate my work for publication (and fight against the terror of AI Artwork), consider buying me a Ko-Fi!
Finally, if you love TTRPG content, then head over to DrivethruRPG - it’s packed with thrid party D&D content, unique TTRPGs, Pathfinder supplements - pretty much anything you could want for TTRPGs!
Delete as applicable.
You can also use the navigation bar on my home page, but I hope that this will be useful also!
And sporadically, when I feel like it
Similar, I suppose, to “What If?” from XKCD, only for D&D problems, not real-world ones!
I can hold my breath for over 20 seconds, and know more than 50% of my ABC’s!
At time of writing, there has been one such item, and I am in the process of reviewing it!
Given the limited success, this may be seen more as a hobby!
If the suspense of this is too great for you to handle, then I urge you, do not dwell on this section!
At time of writing, this is actually “my paid subscriber”, because there’s only one of you out there right now - and I want to give you some stuff to thank you, and hopefully entice others to join you!
There is no Queen of England. There is only Zuul.
